Please Help
Hi ,
I'm currently 10 stone 1 and, desperate to drop at least a stone (hopefuly a stone and a half). For a couple of years I've bee hoping to loose some weight and in the last couple of months have actually started being serious about it. For the last month I have been going to the gym at least three mornings a week and I play rugby twice a week for my local city. I tried the 5:2 a year or so ago but didn't find it particularly effective, and wanted something a bit harder to try and push myself. I stick to roughly 1000 calories a day but for the last month I haven't lost anything, any ideas?

Sounds like a classic too few calories to me. Sorry but if you're that active you need to eat for fuel. Your body will go into starvation mode if you don't eat enough.
I trained and competed as a power lifter till November last year (last comp).
I did IF of 8 hours eating 16 hours fasting, that worked well. I am not one for binging so found it was like a normal eating 'day' though I didn't start till noon and ate till 8pm.
I also had to allow for protein shakes etc.
I successfully lost a lot of weight but went onto medication over the last 3 years and gained due to that and not watching what I was eating - so although I competed finally at my heaviest I didn't normally compete at that weight.
Also My fitness pal is a good app for logging your calories, exercise and weight - a great guide to eating calories too if you read up on the forum side of things.
There is a member here who did the mudrun earlier in the year and was training / still is training hard. So she might pop up with advice or you might be able to find her thread.
Good luck,

I hope it works for you A lot of us here have journals and do different eating plans (some just healthy eating) so feel free to hang around and post up what you're eating / how you're doing - perhaps we can help or at least offer support along the way Will be good to see how you get on.

I agree with Purple J. You might want to bump your calorie intake up a bit, especially considering all the activity you are doing. Also, make sure that your workouts vary. Sometimes, our bodies get used to the same workout and that can halt our progress.

I would have to concur that 1000 calories doesn't sound many!!
I have heard of the dukan diet, doesn't sound that healthy to me; anything that deprives the body of essential nutrients through fasting can't be good for you!!

Under eating doesn't work ... I know I fall into this trap a lot, eating more is the way forward.
You also sound quite active and you need to fuel your body. With how active you are I would also rely on other measurements the most simple is how your clothes fit.

You might try shifting your eating times. Don't eat breakfast, try waiting until 12:00PM to eat your first meal. Definitely eat 3 meals per day!
