Since I have PCOS and am insulin resistant and since type 2 diabetes runs in my family, I have decided to do Atkins for a while (and maybe long term). Anyone else here doing Atkins and if so, what stage are you in?
I haven't done it strictly but I never mind limiting my carbs at all. I find I just feel better over all when I limit unhealthy carbs like bread. As much as I love Panera's Sun Dried Tomato bread, I can't eat it all the time.
Mamafy, how much weight did you lose when you did Atkins? How long would you stay in the induction phase for? I am torn about whether to limit induction to two weeks or if I should stay in it longer than that...
Last year I lost 21lbs in about 6/7 weeks. I stayed in induction 2 weeks. By then I was ready to up to pre-maintenance as I was within 10lbs of target. I really enjoyed it but my advice would be to move on after the 2 weeks on induction
Wow, Mamafy -- 21 pounds in less than 2 months is awesome! I fell off the wagon over the weekend with nausea and vomiting (all I wanted was Sprite and saltine crackers) but I've done well so far today. Hopefully I'll see a few pounds down at the end of the week.
